Pale ales are kind of like a game of 301 in darts. There are a finite number of elements but many ways to win.
Mirror Pond is a very, solidly played game—the elements are nicely arranged: an almost washed-out but commendable hops character, watery-in-a-good-way and refreshing. I mean, really just well done. But overall, kinda lackluster. After I drankthis, I told BJ my opinion. He said, “With pale ales, you’re either Sierra Nevada or you’re just another pale ale.”And he’s right - Sierra Nevada is a game of 301 where bulls-eyes are hit left and right, chiseling away at the board quick and masterfully. All other pale ales are just another game of darts. Solid, but not my lawd how’d they DO that?
